Telomere-to-telomere gapless genome assembly of Calligonum mongolicum

2026-08-06

Calligonum mongolicum is a desert shrub with exceptional tolerance to drought and salinity, making it a valuable model for studying environmental adaptation in xerophytic plants. Here, we present a telomere-to-telomere (T2T) genome assembly of C. mongolicum with a total size of 1.05 Gb and a contig N50 of 123.40 Mb. All nine pseudo-chromosomes were fully assembled, each containing complete telomeric sequences. The assembly achieved a QV of 38.15, an LAI of 16.63, and a BUSCO completeness of 96.96%. A total of 27,124 protein-coding genes were annotated, with 92.70% supported by public databases. This gap-free genome provides a valuable resource for functional genomics, stress-resilience studies, and conservation of desert plants.
