Violence Against Feminist Advocates: Political Violence and Anti-Gender Politics

Research on violence against women in politics (VAWIP) and research on violence against women activists have made crucial contributions by conceptualizing violence as a gendered phenomenon that targets women in response to their political participation. In these approaches, violence operates as a mechanism to discipline, silence, or expel women from political and public life. Alongside these developments, a growing body of scholarship has examined anti-gender politics as a structured and transnational political project, paying particular attention to its actors, discourses, and strategies.
